Ask a group of fifteen what they remember most from a villa week in Tenerife and it is rarely the pool. It is the hour after dinner: the jacuzzi with a drink in hand, someone losing badly at pool or chess, the last few people still outside when everyone else has gone to bed. If you are booking for a big group, a jacuzzi and something to keep people occupied in the evening matter as much as bedroom count.
Why the jacuzzi does more work than the pool
South Tenerife is warm by day even in winter, but evenings drop quickly: after dark it can fall to 15 or 16 degrees, cool enough that a swim in an unheated pool loses its appeal fast. A heated jacuzzi does not have that problem. It is where a group of fifteen actually ends up at ten at night, long after the pool has gone quiet, and it is usually the one part of the villa that everyone has been in by the end of the week.
Surf Villa 3: built around exactly this
The Surf Villa 3 is our six-bedroom villa for up to fifteen people, on the ridge between Las Américas and Costa Adeje. The pool itself is not heated, but the large jacuzzi beside it is, and in the cooler months that is where the evening happens. Bedrooms are a mix of five doubles, four singles and a bunk room, plus a sofa bed in the top-floor apartment, with three ensuite rooms and shared bathrooms for the rest. Two outdoor tables push together for a group meal, and the villa's name says the rest: a billiards table for the evenings when the jacuzzi empties out.
It is a five to ten minute taxi from Siam Park and the beaches of Las Américas, which suits a group who wants to be out during the day and home, not travelling, once the sun goes down.
How the other three compare
- The Surf Villa, our flagship for up to seventeen, has the most going on: a 32ft heated pool, a jacuzzi, a barrel sauna and an ice bath for anyone who wants the contrast, plus a mini-golf putting green, giant outdoor chess and a games console in the family penthouse. Seven ensuite bedrooms mean no queuing for a shower before anyone gets to any of it.
- The Surf Villa 2 sleeps twelve across five bedrooms, with a pool and jacuzzi, in the centre near Siam Park and about ten minutes' walk from the beach.
- Villa Black is the smallest, for up to eight, with a heated pool and jacuzzi and a ten-minute walk to Siam Park.
If fifteen is your number and a jacuzzi with something to do beside it is the priority, Surf Villa 3 is the one built for that brief. If the group is bigger, or the sauna and ice bath matter to you, The Surf Villa is worth comparing on our guide to villas for 12 to 17 people.
What "heated jacuzzi" should actually mean
The same rule applies to a jacuzzi as to a pool: ask what temperature it runs at in the month you are travelling, not just whether it is called "heated". A jacuzzi that is switched off between bookings and takes a day to come back up to temperature is not the same as one that is ready when you arrive. We keep ours running for arriving groups; if you are booking anywhere, ask the direct question before you pay. Our guide to heated pools goes into the difference between a heat pump, a solar cover and "heated for a supplement" in more detail, and most of it applies to jacuzzis too.
Games that do not need good weather
A jacuzzi is weatherproof, which matters on the odd overcast day in the south. Billiards, at Surf Villa 3, is the same: indoors, always available, no dependence on the pool being warm enough or the wind being low enough for anything outside. At the flagship, the mix is wider, with outdoor games (putting green, giant chess) alongside the console indoors, so a mixed group of ages has more than one thing to do at once. Neither approach is better; it depends on whether your group is fifteen adults who want a pool table and a hot tub, or a bigger, mixed-age group who will use everything on offer.
Booking for a group of 15
Every villa is run by the family that owns it, booked direct on the live calendar with no platform fee, and licensed under the Canary Islands' vivienda vacacional scheme (Surf Villa 3's licence is VV-38-4-0093200). Our guide to what to check before booking a large-group villa covers licences, real bed counts and deposits in full, and is worth reading alongside this one before you commit.
If a jacuzzi and a games room for the evenings are what your group actually needs, check dates on the calendar or tell us the group size and what matters to you and we will say plainly which of the four villas fits.
